Practices and Procedures Can Change

What I Learned In School Today: We forget that set practices and procedures can be changed.

Every school gets into certain routines and common practices that become accepted. These types of routines are critical for the smooth and seamless functioning of any organization, particularly a school. Clear systems and responsibilities are essential.

That being said, too often we fall into the trap of doing something simple because that’s how it’s always been done. Practices and routines can become so commonplace that people fail to acknowledge how it can be changed or improved upon. THIS IS DANGEROUS! Organizations should always be improving and looking for ways of being more efficient and effective. Whether it’s procedures, allocation of resources, or communication strategies, we always need to explore how things can be done better. That’s how we continue to grow.
