What I Learned In School Today: We can learn from each other. Don't be afraid to open the doors and let each other in.

Today we at Concord Elementary welcomed several elementary librarians from the West Chester Area School District into our school to visit our Collaboration and Innovation Lab and discuss with our librarian the curricular shift to include makerspace learning experiences and philosophies. West Chester has begun implementing makerspaces in their libraries and as they look to rewrite curriculum, they wisely reached out to other districts to gather some ideas. Of course, we were happy to welcome them into our school!

There is so much we can learn from one another. Twitter, Facebook, blogging, and podcasts have removed so many barriers when it comes to professional learning. Collaboration in education used to be limited to working with the other teachers in your building and possibly sharing ideas with peers in the same district on in-service days. Not anymore. Now we have the means to work with educators from every corner of the world and truly interact with one another. The learning potential is exciting and makes me want to connect, discuss, debate, share ideas, and most importantly, learn. Thanks to the terrific librarians from West Chester for visiting today! I can't wait to see what you come up with in your spaces.
