The People Make It Special

What I Learned In School Today: A school is not a building. It is a collection of people.
Today we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the new Concord Elementary School. Concord had previously existed in a site nearby the current school, but due to population expansion and growth, a significantly large facility was needed. We celebrated with breakfast for teachers, paraprofessionals, office staff, and district administrators as we watched wonderful slideshows depicting the former building and the construction of the new school.
I am only in my second year at Concord and as a building administrator. While viewing the pictures, my greatest takeaway was the number of faces from 10 years ago who are still part of our school. To me there is no greater testament to the school than the number of people who have worked here for long stretches of time. Concord is a special place with a family atmosphere. The building may be 10 years old, but the spirit runs much deeper than that. A school building can be beautiful, but it’s the people who make it special, give it it’s heart, and make it home. Congratulations to all those who have been at Concord for 10 years or longer!
