A Kindergartener's Perspective

What I Learned In School Today: Talk to a kindergartener each day for some great perspective.

Today we held our expectations assemblies where the principal and I meet with each class and go over the expected behaviors at our school. The assemblies went well and I was genuinely impressed with the attention paid by our students.

At the start of each expectations assembly - we held seven sessions throughout the day - I introduced myself, shared that my responsibility is to help people, and asked the kids if they knew my job. As always, the best responses came from the kindergarteners. According to various kindergarteners I am:

  • The vice president

  • The nurse (because I help people)

  • A grown up

  • The person who calls mom if you get in trouble

  • The principal’s helper (my personal favorite and probably the most accurate).

If you ever want some honest perspective, ask a kindergartener.
