What I Learned In School Today: A culture of flexibility is beautiful.
Last week I wrote about the last minute addition of a first grade section for the school year and the subsequent impact on teacher schedules that followed. Today a couple teachers found mistakes on the schedules. Fortunately, the mistakes were relatively minor, ranging from having a classes scheduled for phys. ed. With one teacher instead of the other or reflecting a class time change on one schedule and not the other. There were only a couple instances where this happened, but as someone who wants to make life easier and less confusing for the teachers, I was disappointed nonetheless .
I am fortunate to work in a school with flexible, experienced, understanding teachers who appreciate the rush of the start of the school year. When teachers notices a scheduling discrepancy, they were not angry or frustrated. Instead then brought the problem to my attention, helped me straighten it out, and got on with their days. I am fortunate to work with such flexible teachers.
