What I Learned In School Today: Remember how excited elementary aged kids get to see you outside of school.
Today Concord Elementary School held its fall ice cream social, a fun community event where kids can come back to school, have ice cream, and buy books from the book fair. For my principal and myself, this also marked our seventh day of school with the kids, five of which included some sort of late evening event. The start of the school year has certainly been busy and full of late nights.
The late nights at school can certainly be time consuming, which is particularly difficult when you have three young children at home as I do. That being said, you realize the impact that you have on the kids and that you're so excited to see you outside of school hours. The teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school employees who stayed for the ice cream social were nothing short of superstars in the eyes of the kids who came back and saw them this evening. Thanks for everyone who stuck around and joined us for this nice community event. What we do is all about the kids and they loved it!
